Football is finally back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm liking all the plays except one... Liverpool -0.5. I'm really unsure they can get the win. Villa will be playing with the 4-3-3 formation that served them well at the beginning of last year. So much pace up front, along with a solid midfield, they have a good chance of causing an upset!

I really like the Spurs over 2.25 - great price on that one. They're gonna be amazing this year from an attacking point of view. Berbatov and Bent seems like the perfect partnership.

Good luck Joey.

like the Pompey and Rovers bets and love the Spurs over bet. I never bet Liverpool and really think Man City could be on their way down this year so away points will be tough to come by.

You really think Man City will go down?

They've spent so much money on a new squad. They're likely to struggle to adapt and develop the teamwork. But, they should be able to improve as the season goes on.

I see Boro and Derby as both definitely struggling.

Man City may not challenge for a European place, they may not even be in the top 10 this year but they will NOT be relegated.

Eriksson at the helm, big money European players coming in and a LOT of crap going out. Do not see them struggling this year.

Just for the record, here are my season long bets. Took $5000 from my baseball winnings (no effect on my BR for this thread) and played some season long wagers.

Man United to win EPL 11/8 1000

Birmingham to be relegated 11/10 1000

Tottenham without big four 11/8 1000

Middlesboro to be relegated 5/1 500

Southampton to be promoted 5/2 500

Notts Forest Div 1 5/1 500

Peterborough Div 2 7/2 500

I work off a $10K BR (100 units) betting 2-5 units per game. This will be a season long thread for anyone interested.

yes, City will be like the United Nations after this spending spree...love the addition of Elano but think this club has a lot of work to do. Personally I think Derby and Birminghan are near certs to go down with Boro, Sunderland, and Fulham likely fighting to keep out of the last spot followed by City and Wigan. Boro to be relegated at odds of 5.00 present the best value but Derby at 1.50 is banker material.

Many are favoring Sunderland to play a nice year but not even Keano can keep these young guys from relegation struggle IMO

only season long bet I have is MK Dons to win League Two @ 9.00

in EPL would favor United to take the league since Chelsea and Arsenal could face nearly a month without several African players in the winter.

IMO, Wigan is the worst of that group of 5, they did nothing to improve, lost a bunch of guys and, most importantly, lost Paul Jewell.

unfortunately (for me) MK Dons just sold their big scorer McLeod to Charlton today for approx $4M

he had scored 60 goals in 135 appearances for them

EPL note. Chelsea comes into the season banged up. Terry and Drogba out two weeks. Not to mention Chevy, Ballack and a host of others.

What does it mean to be relegated or promoted??

There really isn't anything like it in North America. Each domestic league in Europe has one than one level. In England, for example, there are at least five (Premier League, League Championship, League One, League Two, Nationwide Conference and then some even lower but at that point you'd have other income for sure). We'll use England for example: At the end of each season, (and again each league is different,) the bottom three teams in the Premier League are relegated to the Championship while the top two places and a third mini-playoff winner from the next four seeds is promoted to the Premier League. This would be the same all the way down thoughout each league.

It would be like the worst three teams in MLB being relegated to AAA and the three best from AAA coming up to MLB although that wouldn't work because the AAA teams are affiliated with MLB teams, if you know what I mean.
